A roller your line depends on is not a part you order off a catalog. It is a problem solved at the materials and design level. Whether you are building a roller from scratch, bringing a failing one back to spec, or trying to make a position last longer than it does today, the work starts the same way: an engineer who understands your process, and a compound and design matched to it.
Most roller shops will show you their equipment. That tells you what they own. It doesn’t tell you whether they can fix the roller that keeps failing in the same position on your line.
The five solutions below are how we work, not what we own. Each one starts from the same place: what is failing, what your process actually demands, and what it will take to make the roller stop being a risk. Most jobs use more than one, like a recover that needs a new compound, or a fabrication that needs a reverse-engineered design. You don’t have to know which one you need. That is what the evaluation is for.
When you need a new roller, we engineer the core, the journals, the surface, then the finish to the parameters your process actually runs: speed, temperature, chemistry, loading, tension. You sign off on the approval drawing before we build, so what arrives is what you agreed to.
Reverse engineering from a worn roller, a spare, or a sketch on a napkin. Precision grinding to the tightest tolerances in the industry, then verified before anything ships, so the geometry on your roller is the geometry on the report.
Surface finish is critical to your specific product. Finish, hardness, and coating are engineered to what your process demands, from mirror finishes for transfer-critical work, to hard chrome for wear and release, to textured surfaces for grip. On a precision line the surface is the working part, and we treat it that way.
We develop and own our rubber formulas, milled and batch-tested in our own lab, engineered to your chemistry, temperature, and wear demands rather than pulled off a shelf in a stock durometer. On a recover we can lab-match your incoming material, or improve on it, which is usually where the wear-life gain comes from.
Getting one month out of a roller that should last three? The fix usually isn’t a new roller. It is the right compound on the one you have. We strip, re-cover, grind, and finish back to spec, repair damage we find on inspection, and either match your existing material or engineer a longer-lasting one. For a fraction of replacement cost, and often with better wear life than what you had.
